Last month was Down Syndrome Awareness Month and Bristol had asked people to send their stories about Down Syndrome and how it affects you.  I sent her Meladee's story and found out that she posted Meladee's picture on her blog.

These where taken outdoors.  They really caught who she really is.  And there are many more pictures these are just a few.

Hard to believe she is going to be 2.  

Meladee is now 2!

Ever since Meladee turned 2 she has started doing new things.  It's funny to watch her.  Here are some pictures I got done.

Meladee is almost 2, where has the time gone?!

I was sitting her tonight going through her blog and looking at the pictures and just thinking about where the time has gone. 

16 months ago she had open heart surgery and spent two weeks in the hospital and when you look at her now you would never know that even happened.  Her scar looks like and old scar.  I will have to take a picture of it.

In November at Thanksgiving she was just doing her army man crawl to get around and just then 6-7 months later she was walking and now she is running and thinks it is funny.  Hard to believe how much time she has made up for considering it was about two-three months of her taking it easy after surgery and have to make up for that time.  And boy has she.

She is not a talker yet but gets her point across very well.  She is at the point where she doesn't want to be feed at all and is changing her choices in food.  Never know one day to the next what she is going to eat.  Lord help me when she does start talking.

The fourth of July weekend I took down her crib and she is now in a twin bed and she loves it.  She did not have enough room in the crib with the way she sleeps and now she has more than enough room and sleeps a lot better.

Now I am planning her 2nd birthday and I can say time goes by too fast and not sure I want it to slow down.  I am enjoying everyday and love seeing what she comes up with to do everyday.

Meladee doesn't like having her hair brushed or put up so today we cut it short.

Grandma and I decided today to give Meladee bangs.  She isn't pulling on her as much since we did that.

Miss Meladee at 21 months.  Three months to go and she will be 2!

Easter, Disney and more and more all the time with Little Miss Meladee

 

So, Miss Meladee is now walking, well not just walking but trying to run as well. 

She is also 13 months Post-Op from her Open Heart Surgery and at her last appointment in Feb she was given the all clear for six month so we go back to see the cardiologist in August when she turns 2.

We went to Florida in March and Meladee got to meet her family and friends that hadn't met her yet and she had a ball.  We also went to Disney World.  She did really well on the plane so in a week she was in Seattle, Chicago, Orlando and Titusville and in Georgia and South Carolina.  She loved Disney World and got to see her favorites such as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and many more.

Easter was a blast, we went to our cousins house and they did an Easter Egg hunt and they used hard boiled eggs and plastic eggs that had jelly beans in them.  She figured out the difference and she would throw the hard boiled eggs. 

Now it is the start of May and the weather is getting nice so it will be time to be outside more often, we know she likes the swings.  She also will be going to a day camp in the summer for a week. 

In three and half months she will be two years old and we are starting to plan the party for that one as well.

We went and had our family pictures taken today and Meladee decided to show off my standing on her own while a few pictures where taken today.  It was fun and they turned out great.

It is that time again for Santa pictures and once again Meladee did what Meladee does best and was great and loved Santa and he even let her play with his beard. 

Meladee is 15 months

Miss Meladee is 15 months old and here is her picture.  She is growing up so fast and has changed since her year old pictures.

Meladee is catching up!!

As of this last weekend Meladee is now crawling, I mean the real crawling.  Tonight she crawled from the living room to the bathroom for her bath.  She also now waves and says "bye" when someone waves. This has been going on for about a week and she is also pulling her self up to everything.  Her PT will be shocked to see her do this in two weeks when she comes back.  I see more of what she does since I am at work all day.  So proud of my baby girl!

It has come to my attention that......

Many people are still asking me why Meladee doesn't crawel, why she doesn't walk already or why this or that.  It seems I need to remind some people that Meladee did have open heart surgery 6 months ago and that she had 6 to 8 weeks where she couldn't be on her stomach and we had to limit her in what she could do.  And because of this she has had to build her trunk muscles back up.  She is now army craweling and trying to sit up on her own and will take steps if we hold her hands.  But Meladee is Meladee and she is doing things that some babies don't do at her again such as being completely off a bottle and not using a binky, and feeding herself and not drinking formula, so all I am asking is to just remember she has a little challange where other babies don't and please don't judge her.

Meladee is ONE!!

After what has been an amazing year for Meladee she is now 1!!  Hard to believe that it has been a year since she was born.  Let alone it has been 5 months since she had Open Heart Surgery.  As of August 3rd, 2012 she is now 18lbs 10 ozs and 30 inches long.  Dr. Likes, Meladee's cardiologist says that Meladee plays by her own set of rules and not the medical set of rules. 

My mom and I took Meladee to have professional outdoor pictures of her down.  I am including 3 sneek peeks of those in this blog.  I get the rest in a little over a week and a half.  We had some other pictures done as well.
